A Fall Wedding At Michigan Wildlife Conservancy, Bath, MI

J + V's fall wedding was packed full of so much emotion. I am a Michigan wedding photographer, and this was my first time photographing a wedding at Michigan Wildlife Conservancy in Bath, MI. I did a little bit of my own research before coming to shoot this gorgeous romantic fall wedding. One of the things that is super cool about this venue, is you get an engraved brick to remember your wedding and can come back to visit to see!

My Suggestions From A Michigan Wildlife Conservancy Wedding Photographer

If I'm being honest, the "getting ready" suite here is extremely dark and dimly lit. I would highly recommend hiring a wedding photographer with confidence in using flash photography if you are getting ready on-site. Additionally, you could consider getting ready at a nearby Airbnb or hotel for better getting ready photos.

An Emotional Outdoor Michigan Wedding Ceremony & Reception

As a wedding photographer, I can tell you that it is not uncommon for the groom to be anxious pre-ceremony, especially if you aren't doing a first-look before the ceremony. I could tell J's anxiety was heightened, and we put off a lot of the posed portraits that I was hoping for until AFTER the ceremony because of it. I would much rather have relaxed and natural looking images, and it was no problem to adjust the schedule. His reaction to Veronica walking down the aisle was more than I could have imagined. It actually brought tears to MY eyes!

One thing I have been asking my couples lately, is what they want me to prioritize in their gallery. I love asking this, because I have realized that every couple wants something different in their gallery. This couple wanted me to focus on candid reactions from family & friends. Since I am a documentary & editorial mixed wedding photographer, this came pretty easily to my second shooter and I.

The star of the show was the "flower girl and ring bearer". Which, were actually her grandma and grandpa! I love that she found this way to incorporate grandma and grandpa into their wedding day.

A Lansing Area Wedding Photographer - Now Offering Micro-Weddings

I live in Hastings, MI, which is only about an hour from the Lansing area (including this venue). I am super excited to introduce smaller packages for more intimate weddings & elopements! Due to the nature of being a wedding vendor in Michigan, I will not be offering these on Saturdays during peak season (June-October), but Sundays and weekdays are fair game. The packages consist of 2-4 hours of coverage for those that want to prioritize high quality images with a professional photographer, without the overwhelming hours. Packages start at 2K. You can inquire here.
