The Smith's Traverse City Wedding | A Beachfront Ceremony on Traverse Bay & Hickory Hills Lodge Reception

If you're dreaming of a Traverse City wedding that combines breathtaking waterfront views with the charm of Northern Michigan, Melanie and Travis's wedding day is the perfect inspiration. Their celebration began with an intimate beachfront ceremony overlooking Traverse Bay before family and friends gathered for an unforgettable reception at Hickory Hills Lodge in Traverse City.

From heartfelt vows to vibrant florals and endless laughter, every part of their day reflected the joy of celebrating with the people they love most.

Wedding Style Inspired by Northern Michigan

Melanie's bridal look was effortlessly romantic. Her lace gown featured intricate floral detailing that beautifully complemented the lush outdoor setting. Her long dark hair was accented with delicate pearl details, creating a timeless bridal style that felt elegant without overpowering the natural scenery.

Travis wore a light tan suit that paired perfectly with the relaxed, upscale feel of a Northern Michigan summer wedding.

Their wedding party embraced rich emerald green attire, creating a stunning contrast against the surrounding forest and waterfront landscapes. Soft pink peonies, orchids, and cascading greenery added a vibrant pop of color that tied the entire day together beautifully.

The combination of natural textures, fresh florals, and classic attire created a wedding aesthetic that felt sophisticated while still celebrating the beauty of Northern Michigan.

Portraits Surrounded by Northern Michigan's Natural Beauty

After the ceremony, we explored some of the wooded areas around Traverse City for portraits. The towering trees and soft summer light provided the perfect backdrop for romantic photographs while still keeping the focus on Melanie and Travis.

One of my favorite moments was capturing Travis gently kissing Melanie's forehead as she closed her eyes and simply soaked in the moment. Those quiet in-between moments often become the most meaningful memories from a wedding day.

Their portraits reflected exactly who they are together—calm, joyful, and completely present with one another.
